Pete Buttigieg Announces His 2020 Run for President

WASHINGTON, D.C. — (04-14-19) — Openly Gay mayor of South Bend, Indiana Pete Buttigieg, announces his 2020 run for president of the United States.

If elected, the 37-year-old would not only be the youngest ever to serve as president but also the first openly gay man to hold the office. His publicity tour has captured the hearts and minds of not only liberals but also religious voters.  Voters who see him not only as an openly gay man running for president but a Christian man who could take the oval office.

Buttigieg made his formal announcement from an old Studebaker factory in South Bend, Indiana, where he has served as mayor since 2012.

“It is time to walk away from the politics of the past and toward something totally different,” Buttigieg told the crowd. “My name is Pete Buttigieg. They call me ‘Mayor Pete.’ I am a proud son of South Bend, Indiana. And I am running for president of the United States. We live in a moment that compels us each to act,” Buttigieg said Sunday. “The forces changing our country today are tectonic. … That’s why this time it’s not just about winning an election; it’s about winning an era.”

As of April 14, Buttigieg’s campaign has reportedly raised over $7 million during the first quarter of 2019.

One has to give credit to Pete Buttigieg for his tactical publicity moves as he made national headlines when he sparked controversy among conservatives for calling out Vice President Mike Pence.

In this reporter’s opinion, vice president Pence is a wanna’ be TV-Evangelist who promotes anti-LGBTQ policies in the name of Christianity.

When Mayor Buttigieg called him out for his homophobia, Pence went on the defensive claiming that he is a victim of something attacking his faith.

Conservatives have responded embarrassingly by trying to frame Buttigieg’s criticisms as attacks on religious freedom but no one is buying it.

The 2020 presidential campaign is just getting started and we are sure to see more stunts in the coming weeks and months. We will keep you up to date on all of the shenanigans as we head into the primary season.
