PARIS — (01-31-19) — France kicks off its nationwide Stop Homophobia Anti-LGBTQ Bullying Campaign in schools. The government is making it a mission to combat homophobia in its schools by launching the anti-LGBTQ bullying campaign in high schools.
The French Ministry of National Education and Youth announced on Feb.28, the kick off of the camapaign through out all of their high schools in the country. The new campaign comes complete with anti-bullying posters as well as guides for teachers on how to support LGBTQ students.
The French Ministry of National Education and Youth also praised SOS Homophobie, the organization that lobbied for the Stop Homophobia Anti-LGBTQ Bullying Campaign in the schools.
According to SOS Homophobie statistics, there was a 31% increase in anti-LGBTQ incidents in 2018. Having LGBTQ children and teenagers subjected to such incidents and attacks often result in negative effects on LGBTQ youth.
SOS Homophobie and the French Ministry of National Education and Youth deserve recognition for their initiative in getting ahead of the turmoil that is affecting our LGBTQ youth. After all, they are our future.
