KAMLOOPS, BC — (01-23-19) — Kamloops police are asking the public for help in assisting detectives in identifying an armed man who robbed a downtown adult store on Sunday January 20.
According to Cpl. Jodi Shelkie of the Kamloops police department, a male suspect entered the Whispers Adult Superstore located at 414 Seymour Street around 4:20 p.m. last Sunday Jan. 20.
The armed male suspect had his face covered while brandishing a knife and threatening the Whispers Adult Superstore clerk. The suspect told the clerk to open the cash register and give him all the money. After the clerk gave him the undisclosed amount of cash, he left the store and proceeded on foot down Seymour Street towards 5 Avenue. Thankfully the Whispers adult superstore clerk was no injured during the robbery.
“This is the third robbery in downtown Kamloops in 10 days,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release. “So far the RCMP have not linked these robberies to each other. We are very thankful that no one has been physically harmed. In each of the robberies, the employees’ actions have been exactly what police recommend. They have remained calm, cooperated with the robber and observed what the robber looked like which helps the police later with identifying a suspect.”
Police describe the armed robbery male suspect as 6 feet tall, medium build, and is believed to be Indigenous to the area. He was wearing baggy jeans, and a black hoodie with a light blue trim on the sleeves, inside the pockets and inside the hood. His face was covered with a mask that was blue, navy and grey camouflage.
