‘Whisper Adult Video Store’ robbery suspect, Abram Roth, who was originally charged with robbery for attempting to steal a cash deposit bag from behind a counter of the adult video store located at 314 N Plum St, Hutchinson, KS, entered a plea deal this week to a lesser charge.

Abram Roth was stopped and tackled by one of ‘Whisper Adult Video Store’ employees.

Judge Trish RoseRoth pleaded guilty on Thursday June 14, to non-residential burglary for the adult video store attempted robbery. Judge Trish Rose (pictured right), ruled that sentencing will be handed out on June 22. Roth had been charged with aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery for the Sept. 16, 2017 incident.

The conspiracy charge in the adult video store incident was given to store employee Marsha Lee Griffin, who is scheduled for a jury trial June 26.

According to details in a motion filed in the case, Marsha Lee Griffin, who was being fired by the ‘Whispers Adult Video Store’ but had not be informed by the store’s manager. Griffin showed up at the store and drew a weapon on the clerk on duty, Luisa Zubia, who’d been instructed by Griffin to get her key out of the store’s back door to talk.

While they were outside, Roth entered the adult video store and grabbed the bag containing nearly $800 in cash. Another employee alerted Zubia to the theft, who went back in and confronted Roth. Roth shoved Zubia and tried to get out the back door but Zubia tackled Roth causing him to drop the bank bag. She then wrapped her legs around him to keep him from escaping. After recognizing Roth, Zubia let Abram Roth go. Once she did, Roth fled out the back door. Zubia then called 911 to report the incident.
