The U.S Air Force has for the first time in recorded history, have punished colonel after he refused to publicly affirm the same-sex marriage of a retiring fellow officer.

Col. Leland Bohannon, who was on the verge of being promoted to a one-star general, has been suspended from command and orders were handed down recommending he not be promoted over his refusal to recognize a fellow officer’s same-sex spouse.

“His career is likely over and he will likely have to retire as a colonel instead of as a general,” said Bohannon’s attorney Michael Berry who voiced his views on the Todd Starnes Show.

First Liberty Institute, one of the nation’s most prominent religious liberty law firms, is representing the military officer.

This sends a clear message – if you do not have the politically correct viewpoint, you are not welcome in the military,” said attorney Berry. “The military is no longer a place of diversity and inclusion if you are a person who holds to a traditional belief on marriage.” said Berry.

It is sad that traditional belief is the same argument used back in the days of segregation. “GOD said not to mix the races”. Ring a bell? Hopefully this will be a lesson to other out of date officers who want to hold on to their insecurities.
