LAS VEGAS, NV — Maze Runner: The Death Cure (also known simply as The Death Cure) is the upcoming American dystopian science-fiction action thriller film directed by Wes Ball, based on The Death Cure, the final book in The Maze Runner trilogy, written by James Dashner, with a screenplay by T.S. Nowlin.

The upcoming science-fiction thriller is the sequel to the 2015 film Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials which brought in $312.3 million at the box office and will be the third and final installment in the Maze Runner film series.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure was originally set to be released on February 17, 2017, in the United States by 20th Century Fox, but the studio rescheduled the film for January 26, 2018 in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D, allowing time for Dylan O’Brien to fully recover from his injuries sustained on-set.

Synopsis:
“In the epic finale to the Maze Runner saga, Thomas leads his group of escaped Gladers on their final and most dangerous mission yet. To save their friends, they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze.”
