FORT DODGE, IA — That is what a Fort Dodge resident told the City Council Monday June 26.

According to resident Joe Sullens, who is someone well known in the community from his Fundraising activities for the disabled and victims for domestic violence, alleged that minors have been allowed into a popular adult bookstore located in the downtown area.

Joe Sullens further alleges that he was told by a police dispatcher that the situation he was reporting on was a low priority and no officers would be sent to investigate his complaint.

This man seems to have a personal grudge against the Romantix adult retail chain branch ‘Mini Cinema 16 & Adult Book Store’ located at 15 N. 5th Street because he further told the City Council that the adult store should be “scrutinized and looked at.”

“I am very concerned about the placement of this particular business,” said Sullens to the City Council.

Sullens added that one time he believed four minors were allowed into the store and when he allegedly saw this, he called police immediately however, that is when he said that the dispatcher said that no officers would be going on such a call.

Fort Dodge police chief Kevin Doty told the City Council….“That did happen and it has been corrected.” said Chief Doty. “An officer will be dispatched to the store in response to any such complaints in the future. Police officers could randomly check the store just like they check bars.”

This really sounds like a man who has an issue with the Romantix location. Plus judging by the response of the police dispatcher, City Council and Chief Doty,  This reporter believes that authorities may be seeing something not quite right as well.  However on the safe side, they will continue to patrol the area and take any complaints seriously and act on them accordingly.
